One month ago today, I woke up with butterflies. The day had finally arrived. One year of planning, countless discussions and disagreements, emotions, pinterest pages, wedding dresses, and endless tiny decisions for a momentous occasion. My wedding day.
No words of wisdom prepared me for that moment. No books or magazine articles could explain how it would feel, what it would be like from the inside. And as such, it is difficult to put to words the true meaning of that day. It was a whirlwind of emotion, a roller coaster of feelings that ran from morning until night.
The countless hours of planning fell away– the conversations with the florist, the search for the belt that would be sewed onto the dress, the song lists for the band, the seating charts, the wording on the invitation, the spreadsheets. At one time these were “very important” things that faded quickly into the background. Marrying the man I love. Dancing the night away with our close family and friends. Receiving the incredible gifts of beautiful speeches, warm hugs, blessings and wishes. Blending two families into one under a setting Manhattan sun. It was overwhelmingly wonderful, exhausting, and beautiful.
I am beyond grateful to our incredible photographers, Maria Vicencio Photography, who were able to capture our wedding. It was difficult to take it all in that day and it is so much fun to relive through the photos.
While you glance through these photos (as you’ve probably looked at countless other wedding photos before) I hope that you will read between the lines to understand the depth underneath the shiny surface. Remember that wedding photos are taken by professionals, hence their “perfect” appearance. Underneath it all are two normal people sweating their butts off and having a good time.
