Saying goodbye to my summer wardrobe staples was easy on the East Coast– it meant leaving behind the 90 degree days and the humidity in favor of long sleeves, light sweaters and boots. A cool breeze was welcome after months of sweat.
Living in the Pacific Northwest this Fall however, the transition from summer has felt very abrupt. My white denim shorts have been tossed aside, giving way to leggings, warm socks and long sweaters in no time.
Do you struggle with the Fall transition? This year let’s ease the transition by bringing some of our favorite summer pieces into the Fall, rather than diving head first into a cold weather wardrobe.
Here are some of my suggestions…
- Bring back those cotton/linen t-shirts. They are perfect for layering with long sweaters and long sleeved knits. I like wearing this one with high waisted jeans and ankle boots.
I like wearing this Bella Dahl denim button down with black skinny jeans and an army green jacket. I love the fact that the back of the top is longer than the front. It makes for a perfect layering piece.
3. Pair your dresses with thin tights and pumps or boots. I won’t wear this DVF wrap dress too much longer, but for now it looks great with nude patent leather pumps, nude stockings and a khaki trench.
As you transition into fall with your wardrobe, fight the urge to toss all of your summer pieces aside. Rather than stuffing your short sleeved tops under your bed, keep them out to pair with sweaters. Buy fewer pieces that are specific to one season and instead opt for seasonally versatile items.
Best of luck as you transition your summer wardrobe! I hope that you flow into fall with grace and ease.
